Alex - Nicaragua
Alex never knew if he’d have water to wash his face. Living in a community perched on a steep hill in Nicaragua, water wasn’t always available through the faulty pipe system. The family often had to trek to a local well — which dried up daily — to retrieve the life source.
Alex’s family home became dirty; it was a breeding ground for disease and sickness. And, the youth often couldn’t go to school, because he couldn’t shower or clean his uniform.
Thankfully, through the help of donors to Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, a new pipe system has been installed so water can consistently reach the 62 homes in Alex’s neighbourhood. “Now we have water all day,” says the healthy student who can now happily attend school regularly.
