With the generous support of our donors, one hundred and six household latrines have recently been built for the people of the Pusuga community in the Nanumba Northern District of Ghana.
The latrines were built with the help of CCFC's partner, Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services (AGREDS), with the aim of reducing incidences of diarrhea, malaria related diseases and worm infestations.
During a recent monitoring visit CCFC Program Director, Abebaw Assefa addressed the District Assembly and the District Health Directorate encouraging all to work hand in hand with CCFC and AGREDS to ensure the welfare of children in the district especially in the areas of education, health and the environment. He said it was a pleasure to observe that the sanitation project was being appreciated by the people.
He went on to assure the people that CCFC in conjunction with AGREDS would continue to assist with projects that would help change the lives of people in the district. The Executive Director of AGREDS, Mr. Joseph Kwame Wumbee said that his organization in partnership with the CCFC has embarked on similar types of projects and activities to improve the welfare of over 7,155 families. He added that with funding from CCFC, together they had transformed lives of over 980 women and 3,500 school children through programs in water, sanitation and hygiene , health and nutrition, education, child sponsorship and micro enterprise development.
CCFC Country Director of CCFC, Mrs. Sanatu Nantogma, urged the people of Pusuga to take good care of the latrines provided to them and also encouraged parents and teachers to monitor their children to wash their hands after using the facilities. She added that her organization’s main objectives are to address the needs of children and women in the country.
