Children of Burkina Faso Celebrate Christmas

Children of the rural district of Komsilga, Burkina Faso celebrated the birth of Christ, during the Christmas celebration organized by Christian Children's Fund of Canada and partner IDEES/ACG.

During the celebration, the top 120 students were each rewarded with oil lamps and another 15 students who recently completed vocational training each received 100,000 CFA francs (about 250 CAD dollars) to help them launch their careers.

According to the President of Hamidou Benoît Ouédraogo, the BKT 2 program has improved the lives of 1,487 children in the community. Mr. Ouédraogo also said BKT 2 is a program that emphasizes self reliance, for "one does not develop a community; you teach people to develop themselves, you enable them to be a real partner, no longer needing donors and no longer regarding their poverty as inevitable."
